Glenn Gerding for Orange/Chatham District Court Judge
Dear friends,

I'm running for District Court Judge for Orange and Chatham Counties this year.

I want to be one of your District Court Judges so that I can help people with difficult problems they face in life. I want to keep our communities safe and enjoyable places to live, work, and raise children. I want to ensure every case receives the attention it deserves from a fair, knowledgeable, and attentive judge. I want to help improve the efficiency of our courts and help citizens with minor offenses move more quickly through the judicial process. If elected, I will also work to develop an Elder Protection Court in our District to help protect the growing number of senior citizens who are victims of physical abuse, fraud, identity theft, and other crimes.

I practice law in my own firm in Orange and Chatham Counties. Before entering private practice I served indigent citizens as an Assistant Public Defender in Orange County, and I served our country in the U.S. Navy's Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps. I'm a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Campbell University School of Law, and hold an advanced law degree from The George Washington University School of Law.

Throughout my career I've handled a diverse range of cases and represented hundreds of clients. I work hard and always seek justice. If you ask the judges, DA's, court clerks, bailiffs, and colleagues with whom I practice, they will tell you that I am patient, professional, and always prepared. They will tell you I have the temperament and disposition to be a judge. They will testify to my knowledge of the law and my respect for the judicial process. Above all, you will hear that I have the maturity, experience, and depth of understanding necessary to be a District Court Judge.

District Court Judges preside over cases involving juveniles, misdemeanors, traffic infractions, child custody, divorce, and cases involving civil claims under $10,000. Our district has five District Court Judges. One judge is retiring, and I'm running for that seat.

As a District Court Judge I hope to reflect the values of our diverse community from Siler City to Goldston to Pittsboro to Fearrington, from Chapel Hill to Hillsborough to Efland, and everywhere in between. I promise that if elected District Court Judge I will have the courage to make tough decisions and do what's right. I will work hard. I will stay current on the law. I will treat all parties in court with dignity and respect. And I will do everything within the bounds of the law to ensure justice for all.

I look forward to the opportunity to serve you as a District Court Judge and ask that you vote for me in the up-coming election.

Sincerely,
Glenn Gerding
